It is Cresskill’s first home game of the year after a very interesting last 2 years. Everyone- students, coaches, cheerleaders, and so many more were pumped for this football game. How did the game go? How did the cougars play? After a few years of distancing and another year of practicing virtual learning due to the flood, Cresskill is finally off to a normal, new school year and getting back on track just like the neighboring towns. Friday, Sep 9, 2022, the players and cheerleaders were able to get back on the field to verse threatening Park Ridge for their first home football game of the 2022 season. Cresskill was able to thrive off the electric atmosphere and the comfort of playing on their home field. However, as exciting as the football game was, there were definitely some nerves on the field. William Cusick, a Sophomore Varsity football player stated, “I was a little nervous for my first football game this year. The week leading up to it, I didn’t do well, and I was afraid that would translate into an actual game.” However, no matter the outcome, everyone who attends the game as viewers are very supportive. Erin Park, a current sophomore who attends Friday’s football game said, “I saw so many parents, coaches, and students that I personally know at the football game. The bleachers were packed, it was so great to see a ton of different people come out and support our fellow teammates. Not only that, I saw so many students with giant poster boards saying encouraging and supportive things. It was absolutely amazing and so heartwarming to see.” The first home game of the season is usually gleaming with cheer and support. Although Cresskill was unable to come out with a win for this particular game, they have so much light to look forward to finally having a completely normal season and being hopeful looking at future wins.
