The “Story” of the Lost Dog

Overnight, the missing dog, named Story, became news all over Cresskill and neighboring towns. According to the owner, the dog had been at her new home for a mere seven weeks. She wasn’t smart enough to make it back home on her own like the other older dogs the owner has. Losing a pet was something this experienced pet owner had never dealt with before.

On Tuesday the 17th of January the owner was on a walk with Story and her other dogs early in the morning by the Cresskill pool. Story “got spooked and kind of shook her head and the slip fell over her head,” said the owner. Story ran away after she got spooked and the owner was unable to catch her in the dark. Throughout the rest of the day, the word was spread all over social media and flyers were put up on almost every telephone pole in Cresskill, and by the next day, flyers were inside the school. Once word was spread everybody was on the lookout.

“I would see people on the street not even realizing they were looking for her as well,” said the owner.

Over the 3 days Story was lost it was “my greatest fear that she would’ve been hit by a car and no longer be with us” the owner said. Unfortunately, this was a very real worry for her and something that happens to many pets. After a treacherous and long three days, Story was eventually found in someone’s backyard near the owner’s home. The owner was “overwhelmingly joyous” when Story was found and says that “social media had to have been the most important part in finding Story and all the people who helped.” To everyone who played a part in finding Story, your help is very much appreciated and the owners could not be more grateful for all that you have done.
