Winter’s finally starting to fade away, and honestly, it’s about time. The heavy jackets, layering, and dark colors are really starting to get old. Spring is always a good time to reset, with everything getting a little lighter, a little easier, and getting dressed feels less like a chore. It’s a nice middle ground where you can still layer, but you don’t have to overdo it just to stay warm. Lately, I’ve been leaning into a mix of vintage, workwear, and americana pieces; and if you’re into any of that as much as I am, I’ve got some great spring recommendations for you.
French Chore Coats

French chore coats have been one of my go-tos lately. They’re super easy to throw on, and instantly give my outfit that workwear-y vibe I usually go for. The fit is usually a little boxy, which makes layering pretty easy, and the worn-in look gives it some character. It’s one of those pieces that works with almost anything; great for spring.
Moto Leather Jackets

A motorcycle style leather jacket is another staple for me right now. It adds a bit of flair without being over the top, especially in the spring when you need to keep it light with the outerwear. Even over a more basic outfit, it brings the true vintage element of my style alive, which I can’t go without.
Vintage Denim / Levi’s

You really can’t go wrong with vintage Levi’s. They simply fit better than most newer jeans, and the denim is always more durable. The slight looseness of all the vintage cuts, along with the natural wear make them easy to style, and they go with pretty much everything I wear. My favorite models right now are: 646, 517, 527, 503b, 504z, 201, 702, and 569.
Vintage Crewneck Sweatshirts (‘50s – ‘60s)

OIder crewneck sweatshirts are perfect for the spring. They’re not too heavy, and they’ve usually got that worn feel that makes them comfortable right away. The slightly cropped fit and faded colors makes them unique, and I can’t get enough of them.
Wide-Leg (Vintage) Chinos

Wide-leg chinos have been a nice switch from my usual denim. They’re comfortable but still fit my style, and they balance out heavier jackets really well. They are usually lighter in color, which feels especially right for spring.
In my humble opinion, spring style is really just about keeping things simple. Having a few solid pieces you can rotate makes getting dressed way easier, and everything ends up feeling way more like you; which is exactly the point.
