Cresskill’s Football Season Concludes in Hasbrouck Heights

On Friday, November 18, 2016, the Cougars played Hasbrouck Heights in the semifinal round of the NJSIAA Group 1 Tournament. Hasbrouck Heights scored in the first quarter, gaining a lead over Cresskill. Heights’ Jasiah Purdie scored on a 39-yard interception return and John Iurato ran the ball one yard, making the scored 12-0. During the second quarter, Cresskill was able to score, as senior Jack Maltby ran the ball one yard. In the third quarter, both teams were able to score. Heights’ Frank Quatrone ran the ball 1 yard and Cresskill’s senior John Connelly scored on an 18-yard pass from Maltby. Scoring was the same in fourth quarter, with Cresskill scoring seven to Heights’ eight. Quatrone scored again by running the ball 1 yard and Phil Miller went for two; Senior Johnny Van Cleft ran the ball for one yard. Junior Michael Ferrara converted all three of his extra-point attempts. Unfortunately, the Cougars lost in the end, with a final score of 28-21, to finish their season.
