Northern Valley Earth Day
April 26, 2017
On Saturday, April 22, 2017, the Northern Valley Earth Fair took place at Tenakill Middle School in Closter, New Jersey. Towns that are involved in the Northern Valley Earth Fest include Old Tappan, Closter, Demarest, Cresskill, Norwood, and Tenafly. The town of Cresskill had a huge involvement in the planning of the day and the actual day itself. Many students from Cresskill High School and Cresskill Middle School helped out at the event by running booths to support an environment-related cause. Both environmental science clubs came to Earth Day to bring awareness to various issues, such as the over-usage of plastic bags, and to provide alternative solutions and ideas for other people to try, such as vermicomposting. Mrs. Gelchinsky’s National Art Honors Society students came to run the face paint table for the younger children and help create various forms of chalk art to decorate the site. Cresskill as a whole was one of the most represented towns at this year’s Earth Day in Closter.
