Lady Cougars Earn Big Win After Defeating Holy Angels In the Adopt-A-Soldier Showcase

On Saturday, January 6, 2018, the Cresskill Girls Basketball team hosted the Adopt-A-Soldier Showcase, a fundraiser to raise money for veterans in our area. The Lady Cougars improved to 6-2 after beating Holy Angels 55-41. Captains Julia Maltby and Courtney Madison, led the cougars by performing extremely well that Saturday. They also had help from freshman Colleen McQuillen scoring 25 points, and Jennifer Garcia’s solid defense kept Holy Angels’ leading scorer to only 10 points.

Not only did this win give the Lady Cougars confidence, but it will help Cresskill earn a high seed in the Bergen County tournament coming up on January 20. The girls have not had lots of success in the past in this tournament, but this year is looking bright as the team comes together nicely and seems to be headed for a path of success. Last year, Cresskill was the 23rd seed and lost to the number 10 seed, Mahwah, to a final score of 49-36.

This month, the Cougars are seeking to win important league games against Midland Park on January 15, and Emerson on January 18. If the team picks up these two wins, their hopes of winning the league title will look promising. This will also support the campaign to seed high for the county and state tournaments.

Come out to support the Lady Cougars as they take on Bogota at home today, January 16 at 4:00pm.
