Celebrating our Fall Sports Seniors

Senior night is a time to celebrate and acknowledge our seniors that have dedicated so much of their time, effort, and expertise in their respective sports. Many of these seniors have played over their 4 years of high school, and the ending of their seasons signifies a step closer to their graduation. Here is a look at the seniors that made their teammates’ seasons so memorable.

Football

The football team played Butler High School home at 7. The boys took the win 21-8, holding a shutout until late into the 4th quarter. To celebrate their seniors, each senior took a picture with their family before kick off. Additionally, the seniors were called out one by one with their parents, giving a flower to their mom. The crowd was one of the biggest post-covid crowds Arch Shaw field has seen, with a student section with over 30 kids. It was a great night for the players and spectators.

The cross country team celebrated senior night with decorative banners and different decorations at one of their meets. Additionally, their new head coach gave a speech about how hard working the seniors are. There were also desserts such as brownies and cupcakes to enjoy after the meet.

The cheerleaders and football players both shared their senior night, with the senior cheerleaders also being called out onto the field with their parents before kickoff. Their junior teammates also made festive posters and signs in support of their seniors and presented them at half-time.

The Cresskill boys soccer team won 4-3 against Hawthorne Christian. To commemorate the seniors, signs made by the underclassmen were put on the field as well as Coach Serbe making the decision to only play seniors (Despite the starting lineup including underclassmen). Underclassmen sat out this game, and all eyes were on the seniors. Lastly, before the game seniors took pictures with teammates and families, and also gave flowers to their family.

Girls Soccer

The Girls soccer team won 3-0 against Hawthorne Christian. Underclassmen made 2 posters for each senior the night before, and they went to the game to decorate the field, hanging their posters and putting streamers around the stands. Underclassmen gave their seniors flowers as well as each parent. Also, a speech was given about the seniors by Ms. Whitney.

The girls volleyball team played home against Saddle River Day, coming out with the win. They played at the rec center where many spectators gathered to watch. Portraits of the seniors were hung in the gym, and underclassmen made posters in support.

Coached by Ms. Muller, the girls tennis team won their matches against Hasbrouck Heights. At the beginning of the match, Ms. Muller and Mr. Egorow, presented the senior girls from Cresskill and Hasbrouck Heights with flowers as an appreciation for four years of hard work. In support of their seniors, the underclassmen made signs cheering on their teammates. Also, coach Muller bought apple cider donuts and apple cider for the team and parents to further celebrate the seniors.
