It’s not much of a coincidence, TikTok is the reason why many makeup and skincare items have been recently sold out and have increased in price. In the beginning of 2023 the rare beauty company increased all of their product’s prices. Not only that, but many of their products have been sold out both in stores and online. This is mainly happening because people are heavily influenced by TikTok reviews. Influencers with millions of followers use these products and make people want to buy the products more and more. Lots of people buy certain products only because they are trending but not because they even like the product. In fact, some people tend to want a certain product just because they saw a famous person use it. This leads me to Alix Earle’s Influence.

Alix Earle is an influencer who went viral overnight because of her “Get Ready With Me” videos. Users across TikTok and social media platforms were heavily influenced, looking up to her. People soon enough fell in love with her makeup routines and ran to the store to purchase the exact products used in her videos. Before these videos were posted, these products were in stock at nearly every makeup store and some were not even well known. But, immediately after Alix uploaded her videos, most of the products were sold out at nearly every makeup store. People would be considered lucky grabbing a hold of one of the products that she uses. Some of the trending products include the drunk elephant bronzing drops, NYX white eyeliner, roller lash mascara, charlotte tilbury contour wands, and more.
