On Friday, December 12, senior basketball captain Erin Fahy hit a career high of 1,000 points. Fahy only needed two more points to reach her career milestone after a rough first quarter against Waldwick. With the opposing team repeatedly pressing her, Fahy used her quick abilities to make a layup that marked her 1,000th point.
Erin Fahy was one of the top scorers in Bergen County last year. Not only does she dominate in basketball, but she was second-team All-Bergen as well as the Bergen Record’s Athlete of the Week in volleyball earlier this school year.
When asked how achieving her 1,000th career point felt, Fahy said, “Achieving 1,000 points felt amazing. I didn’t really play that much freshman year so it didn’t really seem like it was going to be an achievable goal but when I finally realized it was possible in junior year I was so excited.”
Fahy also credits her teammates, who helped her to succeed: “I have played with some of my teammates for so many years and it felt so good to do it with them by my side because they were of course a part of it as well. They were the ones that passed me the ball that really allowed me to score so my biggest thanks goes to them.”
Caitlin McGee, a teammate of Fahy’s was asked how she is on and off the court, McGee said “Erin is always a positive influence on our team no matter what. She picks us up when we are down and is always there for us. By constantly communicating on and off the court, she helps the entire team be the best we possibly can.”
Her hard work over the past three years, building her up to this point, has paid off. Fahy is the 17th woman in Cresskill High School history to achieve 1,000 career points and will continue to work hard to earn points as the season continues.
