As the 2023 Cresskill/Emerson football season ends, the Cougars are excited to kick off their second year of merging with Emerson at their season opener against Palisades Park on September 6, 2024.
Cresskill welcomed Emerson into their football program in the summer of 2023. This was a huge change and adjustment for both teams. Cresskill had to learn how to play with an opposing team, and Emerson had to leave their home field and uniforms behind. As the season went on, it became clear that deciding to merge with Emerson was a great idea. It not only helped the team excel during the season but also created new friendships.
When asked what he looks forward to most, upcoming senior Eric Nam said, “I think the thing I’m looking forward to is playing with my Emerson teammates again. It was a great experience last year meeting new people and teammates.”
Head coach Kevin Quinn was asked how he feels next year’s season will go, he says “I think it’ll go well. We have a lot of good pieces back. I think the kids are excited. We had to work through some of the first-year co-op management issues and I hope everything works out smoother this year.”
Quinn also says he is thrilled to merge with Emerson again and they are looking forward to getting back on the field and getting all the guys together again.
“The fun part of any sport is really just being together with your teammates,” says Quinn.
With both teams used to playing with each other, a great coaching staff, and a lot of support and encouragement from friends and family, the Cougar/Cavos are predicted to have a great season next year!
