Cresskill has a variety of sports in the middle/highschool. But the one sport High school demands is lacrosse. Lacrosse is a mixture of basketball, hockey, and soccer all in one. 10 players are allowed on the field at a time. Lacrosse’s objective is passing the ball to your teammates with a stick to get it in the net without the other team taking the ball from you.
Currently there are 60 schools who offer lacrosse as a sport. Lacrosse players are interested in seeing how many would be willing to try their sport. Freshman Jordyn Adika, who is on a team for lacrosse says, ¨Lacrosse is such a fun sport and we should have it in Cresskill because I feel like people would love it.¨ She also explained that, ¨Cresskill should have lacrosse in the program because it will give people a bigger variety of sports.¨ Another freshman Hannah Herman says ¨ If lacrosse was in Cresskill I feel like a bunch of people will play it because a lot of people ask for it to be a sport in Cresskill.¨
As more people questioned if lacrosse should be a sport in Cresskill, they started to ask athletes on lacrosse teams if they could get a coach for Cresskill. In Cresskill we don’t have a lot of spring or summer sports. Cresskill only has softball, baseball, track and field, golf, and boys tennis. Lacrosse, being a spring sport, would allow for fall and winter athletes to compete during their off season. As a result, the addition of lacrosse would give athletes a larger pool of sports to choose from.
Lacrosse can help benefit Cresskill by giving athletes a wider variety of sports. People will have another option if one sport doesn’t work out. Lastly, with the addition of Cresskill Lacrosse, people would want to participate because of how fun it is.
