Fall brings us back to school, changing leaves, shorter days, and favorite holidays. Here at Cresskill High School, fall is also noted to bring back fan favorite desserts. I interviewed some CHS students on their favorite seasonal sweet treats and below are the top-three CHS favorites.
Pecan Pie
This dessert seems to be one of the more popular ones, with its rich flavor and savory nutty taste. When asked why this was a favorite, student athlete, Jackie Skonier said that it is sweet and delicious and reminds them of their favorite family memories. Pecan pie is a perfect dessert to bring to any Thanksgiving table, as it is liked by so many and relatively easy to make from scratch.
Pillsbury Pumpkin Cookies
This is a fall staple in many kitchens. This desert is so popular because it is quick, easy, and delicious. A person could find these cookies in their local supermarkets ready to be put in the oven as soon as they get home. When asked why these were a favorite, student Hila Mor said, These cookies are perfect for watching a Halloween movie at home or just to have as a fun treat when you’re craving a classic cookie. Although these cookies may not be the most extravagant treats, they are still comforting and perfect for a cozy fall afternoon.
Apple Cider Donuts
The final favorite dessert was the apple cider donut. Whether you get them at a chain donut shop or make them from scratch, these donuts are guaranteed to give you a taste of fall and the sweetness of a crisp apple. “The flavors of apple cider donuts melt in my mouth,” says a student who took an anonymous survey. Although they are not the typical pumpkin or apple pie, they will still give you a sweet and savory combination leaving you wanting more.
