While Thanksgiving has just passed, more holidays are approaching and if you are bored at home during this upcoming winter break, here are some fun activities you can do with friends, family, or even alone!
- Ice skating:
Whether you go with friends, family, or on a date night, ice skating offers a fun, social environment. Ice rinks are typically filled with people of all skill levels, so everyone can join in, from beginners to experts. It’s also a low-pressure, non-competitive activity, making it easy for people to just enjoy being together. Winter break is all about enjoying new experiences, and ice skating offers a refreshing change of pace from the usual holiday routines. One of the ice rinks that you can go to near Cresskill is the Ice House in Hackensack or the Mckay ice rink in Englewood.
- Going into the city:
Around the holidays is the perfect time to venture into the city. The city is a very short ride away from Cresskill and there are plenty of things to do. For example shortly the Rockefeller tree will be lit up which is an amazing thing to see and take pictures of as well as the ice skating rink below it. Around Rockefeller you can walk on 5th avenue and look at the beautiful Christmas displays. Getting dinner or a brunch is always a good option, OR you can head down to Bryant Park where there are many different food options with many people making it a perfect way to end your day in the city
- Decorating :
If you find yourself not really in the holiday spirit a good thing to do is decorate! Decorating your house or your room can spark a sense of holiday spirit. Buying a christmas tree and putting up the lights and ornaments is always a fun tradition to do. As well as decorating the outside of your house with colorful lights, other decorations like blowing up snowmen or sleighs can be just as enjoyable and make your neighbors feel the Christmas spirit too. This can be time consuming but the time spent with family and friends makes it all worth it!, To get a tree you can go to the Closter plaza!
- Going to see lights :
If you can not decorate yourself you can drive around and see them yourself! In Demarest farms in Hillsdale there is a drive through with 32 acres of lights opening on Nov 22-Dec 30. A beautiful place to think about going when you are bored with your friends and want to go for a drive, you can also stop along a coffee shop and get hot chocolate on the way.
Overall the holidays are a perfect time for all of these things! But holidays are most importantly about spending time with your loved ones, appreciating what you have and constantly being able to be around them is a special time. Make sure to take advantage of all the holiday activities that Cresskills surrounding towns and cities have to offer over this winter break!
