Love is in the air, chocolates are on the shelves, romance is at an all time high, and Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Valentine’s Day has long been a day full of romance, roses, and grand gestures. For many, it’s the perfect opportunity to take their relationship to the next level with a heartfelt proposal. In this article, I will provide 4 ideas for Valentine’s proposals that are affordable and considerate for anyone.
The first idea is a classic poster with cute phrases written on it. There is an infinite list of words that can be added to this poster that ranges from a simple “Will you be my Valentine?” to themed posters such as, “You make my heart Crumbl. Be my Valentine?” and, “You’re the MVP of my heart”. This is a common idea for Valentine’s day proposals but with time and energy can still be very unique and endearing to anyone you want to ask out. Sophomore Addison Spelbrink states, “It wouldn’t be the end of world if I got a poster especially if it was colored in cutely but I’d like a gift with it too.” Posters are easily accessible and affordable so with a couple pencils, red and pink markers, and symbols like hearts and confetti, you will definitely gain a Valentine for this year.
The second idea is a bouquet, which can be either homemade or store bought. Simple flowers are a good idea but a bouquet full of an assortment of meaningful items like polaroid pictures, small gifts, chocolate, or handwritten notes can elevate your proposal to another level. Including a personalized touch, such as a heartfelt card or sentimental photos, makes it even more special. When asked if she would like a bouquet or a poster, Cresskill sophomore Maya Joshi said she would rather get a bouquet: “A bouquet is something that most guys don’t think about gifting, in comparison to a poster.” Imagine presenting a beautifully arranged bouquet with a thoughtful message and pictures, it would definitely be hard to say no to that. This creative and romantic gesture is sure to make your Valentine’s Day proposal unforgettable.
The third idea is having your proposal written on a Starbucks drink. Getting a pink drink and adding a Valentine cake pop with it will appeal to any Starbucks lover and sweet treat enthusiast. If Starbucks isn’t their thing, you can still get creative by writing the question on any food container, whether it’s a cookie box, a donut bag, or even a homemade treat. A delicious treat combined with a thoughtful message is a simple yet adorable way to win their heart. Although, this gift is more a casual idea as Sophomore Lia Lotan says, “I would honestly rather get a gift and chocolate than a Starbucks gift.”
The fourth idea is making a card and giving it to a stuffed animal. Jellycats have been all the rage lately with everyone fighting to get their hands on one. Now that they have come out with a new Valentines Day line with plushies like Amuseables Beatie Heart, Amuseables Val & Tina Love Locks, Amuseables Rose Bouquet, and Bartholomew Bear ‘Heartthrob’, gifting this with a card, flowers, or chocolates would be perfect. Unfortunately, Jellycats are more of an expensive present and not easily accessible to all, but in this case, giving any stuffed animal will be just as thoughtful. To make your proposal even more personalized, getting a stuffed animal that you know your partner likes shows a deeper level of commitment and romance. From sophomore Erin Kim, “People should definitely start giving out stuffed animals more cause if I got a Jellycat I would have to say yes.”
Hopefully, this article gave you some creative and thoughtful Valentine’s Day proposal ideas! No matter how you choose to ask, the most important thing is the time, effort, and love you put into it. Whether it’s a heartfelt gift, a sweet treat, or a grand romantic gesture, your Valentine will appreciate the thought behind it. So take a chance and don’t be afraid to ask!
