After years without it, Powder Puff finally returned to CHS, and instead of the predictable senior victory everyone expected, the night ended with a shocking twist. Powderpuff is a girls flag football game, while the boys act as cheerleaders, flipping the typical football tradition around. The event had been on and off for years due to numbers and other conflicts, making its comeback highly anticipated.

From the moment the teams stepped onto the field, the energy was electric. The juniors came out fast, aggressive, and fearless, taking control. Their offense was sharp and they looked like they’d been planning for weeks.
By the second half, the seniors had fought their way back, and with 10 minutes left, the score was tied. Students were cheering, coaches were pacing, and every play could decide the night. Then, in the most tense moment of the game, junior Victoria Costa broke through the senior defense, gaining the lead and the win.

The seniors responded with a final push, but the juniors courageously held their own until the clock hit zero. Junior head coach Jake Lewin said he couldn’t be happier: “I feel really proud of my players. They worked really hard in practice and it really showed when we beat the seniors especially in that last surge in the 4th quarter. I couldn’t choose a better team for this win and I am looking forward to a rematch in the future.”
However, the best part of the night wasn’t the score — it was the return of a popular tradition our school has been missing. Students and families cheered, the rivalry tension between the juniors and seniors climaxed, and the game was overwhelmed with school spirit.
Now the real question is: will there be a rematch in the spring, and if so, who will come out on top?

Coach Lewin didn’t hesitate when he was asked about a rematch, saying: “No question we will win. If we work just as hard as we did the first time we will win again. We will start digging the graves now.”
