The New York Times games have been a trend for quite a while now, and a lot of students got into it and more and more. When I first heard about these games, I tried them and got dragged into the addiction quickly – when you start, you never go back. 

Let’s talk about Wordle. Wordle is my personal favorite, just a simple five letter word with five guesses to get the word, this is probably one of their more popular games and it’s basically everywhere. Lia Sheinbaum, a sophomore from Cresskill High School says: “it’s a really fun game and it passes time and really expands my vocabulary, me and my friends play it all the time.”

Wordle is an enjoyable and challenging game that you can play whenever and has become very big in Cresskill. It’s highly recommended if you’re trying to challenge yourself or if you want to try something new.

Although it’s not a New York Times game, Contexto Is a heavily-played game that the students have mixed feelings about. The point of Contexto is that AI generates a secret word and you have infinite guesses to get to that word. There are numbers and colors that tell you how close you are to the word with each guess. It can be really confusing at first but when  you know what to do, it’s pretty fun. This is a very challenging game and most people struggle with it. Meagan Mata Medrano, a sophomore from Cresskill High School says: “It’s a brain teaser and I’m always on the edge of my seat hoping to get the right word but it can be too specific sometimes.”

It has been popular in Cresskill for a while and most people I know have played this game at least once. It’s either you like it or you hate it. I recommend this game if you’re good with words and can handle a challenge.

In my opinion, Connections might be the hardest out of the three. Connections is a game where you have 16 words and you need to put them into groups of four with some sort of topic for each group. The topic can sometimes be very hard, making the game challenging for people. I like this game because unlike all the other games where you need to guess the word, this one is a little different since you have all the words but you need to figure out a topic for the words and that makes it more interesting, this is probably one of the main reasons the game pretty popular in Cresskill.

A Freshman from Cresskill High School says: “this game is so fun, i love playing it when i’m bored but i don’t always get the answer.”

These are just a couple of the many online games that have been going viral. These games have been a big deal in Cresskill because they are a fun game to play in class or when you’re bored and it’s a nice way to pass time or it can be just a nice way to relax at the end of the day, you should give them a try.
